Our Literacy hour was much more exciting than usual when local author, Declan Carville, came to visit on Thursday March 21st. He came with an array of his books, original storyboards and illustrations so that he could explain the whole creative writing process. He told the children how it all begins with an initial idea, then he plans the beginning, middle and end before he starts to write and finally he works with an illustrator to help bring the story to life, sometimes in the most unexpected ways. Declan even took the time to listen to some of the stories from our as yet unpublished authors in P5 too! He was so enthusiastic, encouraging and inspirational that by the end of the workshop the whole class couldn't wait to start writing their own stories, just like Declan!
