The efforts of St Bronagh’s head girls and boys were rewarded with Rusty, our red squirrel, delighting pupils and staff with many appearances in our school yard this week.
After the pupils placed sunflower seeds into squirrel feeders we were able to enjoy many sightings of Rusty from our classroom windows darting along a wall, leaping from trees or skipping into our school yard to feast on tasty snacks.
Being quite a character, St Bronagh’s pupils believe that Rusty has encouraged another red squirrel from Kilbroney ancient oak woods to learn the lessons of where to find a safe habitat, fresh sunflower seeds and quick escape routes.
One of our school staff was lucky enough to capture him on camera enjoying the tasty meals provided by St. Bronagh’s pupils.
