๐ โญ๏ธ ๐ช P5 Take Off on their School Trip to Armagh Planetarium๐ชโญ๏ธ๐
We had a super trip to the Armagh Planetarium on Thursday June 13th. It really was an out of this world experience!
Our guide, Dr Kerem, showed how the universe began from a single point and explained how we are all made from star dust๐. He was very impressed with the pertinent questions being asked by the P5 children and their level of interest. And we can all now finally agree that Pluto is not a planet because it doesn’t fulfil the three criteria! ๐
As well as exploring the universe, we were divided into teams to plan and construct a Mars lander to safely transport a fragile payload (an egg!). We then tested our landers by dropping them from a height onto the landing zone. Three out of five “astronauts” landed intact, but only two were extracted from the landing craft within the ten second life support survival window.
We then had fun exploring all the exhibits, games and the dressing up area; you might even see some astronauts ready to take off on their next intergalactic mission in the photos below.
Thanks for a great trip everyone and keep reaching for the stars ๐๐๐!
